I finished Corambis today, and you know what that means. You're in for a book review! :D You lucky people.

But I'm doing this one a little differently, or trying to. I'm going to look back at the series largely as a whole and try to be as little spoilery as possible. So - here goes.

I picked up Melusine because it was one of those many books that I went to the bookstore, picked up, looked at, and put back. Several times. Eventually, I said 'fuck it' and went to the library to check it out. I started the book one night and stayed up until 3 am finishing it. Before I was very far in, I knew that this series was a keeper. And went through the next two just as quickly. The end of The Mirador left me curious and wondering where things were going to go, as well as a little depressed. Several weeks ago Corambis arrived, but I was in the middle of a book and felt bad starting another, so it sat on my windowseat staring at me in reproach until I finally surrendered and started reading.

At about 5 o' clock yesterday.

More favorite moments in this book than I can count. I'll have to go back and read it again. And soon. But I swear I'll finish my other material first, really! XD

(additionally, we have been watching Harry Potter the First in Spanish and it reminds me of 1) how omg little they were and omg adorable little Hermione is in her bitchy know-it-allness, and 2) how much I friggin love Snape. o__o I need to go back and reread. Think I'll go hunt down bits now.

Of course the fact that he has Alan Rickman's sexy sexy voice might have a little to do with remembering this. omgAlan. Talk to me in that voice all night long. Mmm.)

...it doesn't even matter that I can't hear his voice in the movie itself. I hear it in my mind.

Began brainstorming for possible new story. Commitment, I fail at it. XD Also, things I Need to Do: a. Write Corambis based fic. Jot notes. b. catch tags properly c. finish "At the Mountains of Madness" d. sleep moar. e. crush the Egyptian empire. f. Make musical FST for Felix/Malkar (!) e. talk self out of anything stupid

My life, she is busy.

In reading Corambis, which is awesome and will get more of a review when I'm actually done (since currently I'm judging based on being about halfway through) I have realized fully what has been getting in my head for a while. In fiction, at least, I am extremely interested in the dynamic of sadomasochistic relationships. I don't know...exactly why. But in all their forms - overt and covert, subtle and otherwise, verbal or physical - they interest me.

I'm curious about this, and also incredibly interested in writing something based on it, but have no idea how to go about this without being...I don't know, disrespectful, or inaccurate. But it's just such an interesting setup, and an interesting dynamic, and so many places you can go...

...do I have problems? xD At any rate, I need to start exploring these little random story ideas more. Like the one where the Chosen One isn't actually the Chosen One but is a sociopath who thinks they're the Chosen One.

Or something like that.

I have a Dreamwidth account! I don't expect to be fully migrating over there unless things change in the near future, but I'd love to keep track of people and be able to read the things they're posting over there. My username is (as usual) minviendha. :D

Okay, computer still fucked up. Yahoo loads weirdly when it loads at all, pages load slowly, toolbars don't close out the way they should (i.e. volume, virus database, etc.). Scanning again, and backed up my files to the external but am scared that might have transferred the whatever it is....SO QUESTION, FLIST, AND I'M GETTING A LITTLE DESPERATE HERE AND SERIOUSLY FREAKING OUT, SO PLEASE. HELP.

2. WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS OF A 'SYSTEM RESTORE?'
3. HOW IN HELL CAN I FIX THIS???? 

I would go to the computer guy, but my parents as good as told me that I'd have to pay for it. And I have. No. Money.

AAAAAAAAAGH *spazflail* MY GOD THIS WEEK HAS SUCKED. THINGS HAD BETTER START LOOKING UP SOON OR I WILL STOP GETTING OUT OF BED, LOCK MYSELF IN MY ROOM, AND SCREAM.

...anyone know how much punching bags cost? I really think I need one. Pillows just don't do it. Not enough resistance. Or pain.

ETA: Internet still stupid as hell, me still pissed off as hell, going to go try sleep before I give myself ulcers. And try this 'System Restore' thing, see how it works. *sigh* Aaaaaaargh. This week needs to be over. Now.
