A reading update. I have read a lot lately. Far too much, in fact...
Moonshine by Rob Thurman. I loved this one even more than the first one. So good, so intense, so... angsty. I must admit I have a soft spot for angsty heroes. XD So, anyway, it is very urban fantasy, not very classy, but still an enjoyable read.
American Gods by Neil Gaiman. I am in love with Neil Gaiman. No. Really. I swear. This book was so good. So was every other book of his I've read so far.Plus he's kind of hot. This book surprised me, and Shadow is kind of adorable. I loved trying to figure out who all the gods were from my limited knowledge of pantheons (other than the Greek and Norse, obviously.)
Stardust by Neil Gaiman. I didn't actually like this one as much as the other ones, but it was a fun read, and some of the parts of it I liked. I definitely love Neil Gaiman's writing style. The whole witchery subplot kind of weirded me out, though.
Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. I ADORED this book. Adored it. It reminded me of a darker Phantom Tollbooth, and it was so much fun to read and good writing and YUM. I had no choice, I had to buy it. I think I have a new favorite book.
The Visitor by Sherri S. Tepper. One of those random, off-the-wall picks I'd recommend to anyone. It's post apocalyptic sci-fi, with an interesting bend in the middle of it and a rather weird story. I was initially rather confused, but then I settled into it and the story just flowed along and was gone in no time. I like this book a lot.
The Companions by Sherri S. Tepper. But not as much as this one. For it's ideas of a sentient world and what is 'alive' or 'intelligent', this book is a winnar. I loved the images of an overcrowded Earth and, indeed, solar system, and the alien races depicted were indeed alien and very fascinating.
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. This book...was interesting. I didn't actually like it very much. The premise intrigued me, but I thought the author handled it sloppily and sappily, and that bothered me. But it was a beautiful story, and very sad. I'd say to read it, just to read it. It's one of those books that may become a modern classic in a way.
...I know there were more, but I cannot recall them. An Anne Bishop reread is on the way, after which I will probablynot pick up Kalush.
