Yeah, that ending is a bit "GAAAHHH!"-inducing, though at the time it was being shot, Eric Kripke and company didn't know if the show was going to be renewed for a second season or not, so they decided to end it on a bang, just in case.
That's actually - kind of helpful. Also it probably helps that I've now watched the first few episodes of season two and am no longer flipping out quite so much.
I would be so angry about that kind of ending if the series ended there, though, I really would.
