I do this too much lately I think.

Well, despite not actually signing up for Yuletide, I did end up writing four fics for it. And I'm rather fond of them. So here are the ones I put my name to:

The Boy Is Doing Fine for Pitseleh. Doctrine of Labyrinths. [livejournal.com profile] pitselly is actually a friend of mine, surprise surprise, and lord, guys, it has been ages since I wrote for DoL. But I liked doing this one. Because [livejournal.com profile] pitselly has Mildmay voice down like fuuuuuck and I was scared to try it, I went for another idea proposed, and wrote about Felix, having just gotten out of his situation with Malkar and, as it says in my author's note, "I liked the idea of an awkward Felix just realizing his own freedom and joyful but also just out of the dark." This might be the closest to legit happy DoL fic I've ever written. That kind of pleases me. (It was fun to do. I like this Felix.)

Favorite Line: Felix worried his lower lip, then stopped, then did it again because no one was telling him to stop.

We're Praying for Rain for hollow_echoes. Caliban Leandros Series. Another one I haven't written for in a long while, probably because Supernatural has taken up the niche this fandom used to occupy for me. But the prompter wanted hurt/comfort with Cal and Niko and my brain just lit up all over that. So I ended up with this piece, set after Darkling (A.D.?) but before Moonshine, about them trying to keep it together. I am actually kind of amazed I haven't written this fic before. It seemed like the kind of thing I would have done by now.

Favorite Line: He opened one of the windows. It smelled like smoke and rain outside. He closed his eyes and just breathed. They were still here. They were both still here.

A Little Sunshine for random_chick. Black Jewels Trilogy. Aaaand another fandom I haven't written in for a while. BJT was where I got my real start in fic, I think; it was definitely where I started picking up the things that I think have become my "trademarks" - namely a penchant for doing terrible things to my favorite characters, I guess. Wilhelmina has always been one of my favorite minor characters in this universe, and I was delighted to see a prompt for her, and what's more for her post-series, which is something I have kind of always wanted to write but didn't know what I wanted to do with. This one is about Wilhelmina going on a Date, her first, and she is nervous and fluttery and, as always, so much braver than she knows.

Favorite Line: “Just have fun. It’s just the theater. Watch the play. Enjoy the play.” She paused. “Grab his hand if there are scary parts.”

The Season of Grace Coming Out of the Void for Katharos. Black Jewels Trilogy. This one was the definite crowd favorite this year. And it's probably mine as well. I can't believe I've never written an AU for this series, and I really like this one. This is the one where Saetan decides that the price is worth saving his sons, and gets them out of Terreille early on, before the time frame of The Daughter of the Blood. It is basically Andulvar, Saetan, Lucivar and Daemon finding their way around each other and getting better slowly. Someone in the comments asked if I'd consider continuing this, and I might. I just might.

Favorite Line: Lucivar flicked a piece of rice at Daemon’s nose, and Daemon scowled at him in a moment of unguarded relaxation, and Saetan loved them both so much it hurt.

(And that's all, folks. But a-also you should go and tell [livejournal.com profile] elvenpiratelady how awesome that "I need to see a man about a god" fic was

because she wrote it and it was awesome

and no I'm not going to shut up about it)

I THOUGHT THAT MIGHT'VE BEEN YOU. i read it and went 'hmm this style is familiar BUT WHO'. Anyway, I loved it and thank you for writing it. I LIKED THAT LINE ALSO. ALSO... ALL OF THE LINES.

Heee. :D It was fun to do! And hey, if I ever do write that Mildmay and Zephyr fic, I know who I'm sending it to for voice editing, so you know.

I AM GLAD YOU ENJOYED. HAPPY THINGS.

I've never read the Black Jewels trilogy, but OMG that fic title. How much do I adore the song it came from. ♥ At least, I'm assuming that's where it came from. >_>

Heee, no, you're right. That song is gorgeous. >> And it has been all over my head lately.

OH VIENNA TENG WHY ARE YOU SO FUCKING AMAZING ~

From: [identity profile] idleleaves.livejournal.com

SHE IS AMAZING. Gah. I've written so much because of her music, nngh.

That song is one of my default holiday songs, but I listen to it year-round, too.

Also I can apply all of her songs ever to elves; see here. (http://minviendha.livejournal.com/424615.html)

Vienna Tennnnng. My forever love. (Also I have seen her twice in concert and she's super sweet and charismatic and excellent as well. ♥____♥

OMG that entry. ♥ x 10,000,000. I love so many of those songs like hell anyhow, so to associate them with another love of mine is a wonderful, wonderful thing.

This is me, being envious. She must have been amazing.

oooh good ideas. *perches eagerly. so eagerly.*

XDD That entry. Heh. Sometimes these things happen. Vienna Teng and, apparently, My Chemical Romance are, like, my elf bands. Also Assemblage 23. I made a post a while ago about artists I associate with characters/fandoms, but Vienna Teng is probably the most ridiculous.

She was alkjsdfl. If you ever get a chance, go go go to one of her concerts. Watching her is a treat, oh gosh. There are pictures somewhere on the internet of me and her and my friends. >>

*flails around* Totally mem'd that entry so I can come back to it again. (And again and again...)

HEH. My brain does that, too. For me, Vienna Teng used to be associated strongly with a certain set of HP characters, but that's been shifting, lately, away from that and closer to Arda. Loreena McKennitt is pretty strongly associated with Elves in my brain, too.

If Vienna Teng ever comes within 200 miles of me I will so be there. >_>

Love the Leandros brothers. Any fan of SPN really should read Rob Thurman's stuff.

I tend to agree. I actually came to Supernatural after reading t'other series several years earlier, and thus I am not surprised at all that I enjoy Supernatural.

Still need to finish that crossover that I'm writing. >>
