I hate guilt education.
1) I'm now guilty to be American. Let's face it. Everyone except Americans hates Americans. We're known as loud, obnoxious, invasive, and fat. And stupid. Don't forget stupid. I hardly even want to travel any more because of the hostility I hear about/am afraid of. Please, people: I'm not even eighteen, so you can't use the excuse that I vote. I live here because I live here. America is not necessarily the exiling place for everyone fat and stupid. There are some pretty cool people here. Sure, there are lots of assholes too, but aren't there assholes everywhere? And srrsly, it's not my fault that we've made mistakes. We've made a heap of mistakes. I don't want to be ashamed to be American, but I am, on account of decisions of an authority that I have no control over. How much sense does that make? Isn't that kind of a lot to dump on an entire nation.
2) English speakers suck. You know the thing: English doesn't borrow from other languages, it bops them on the head in dark alleys and steals their spare words," or something like that. That makes me feel bad to speak effing English. English has become the "bad" language, like Christianity is the "bad" religion. That bothers me. People are like, "English is a murdering theiving language and it is TEH EBUL. Hello, guilt trip.
3) Whites should all go curl up in a corner and die. Everyone knows that black people suffered, were enslaved and brutalized. When did this happen? In the fucking 16th century. So explain to me why it is my fault? Just like black people can't help the color of their skin, I can't help the color of mine. I know you suffered, but it wasn't me. I'm not racist. So please, don't give me crap about how I "can't understand your pain" and how, since I'm white, I've got it all good. It's like the idea that since I'm skinny I've got it all good. That's utter shit.
4) Humans should all DIE. So this was brought on by a movie about bio-diversity telling me that all the species should die and that it's ALL MY FAULT SO THERE. I'm human. Can't help it. Where does it get us if we just go around hating our own species? It makes no sense. So thanks for making me feel guilty, everyone.
And then there's "I'm a Teen" guilt. But I've already ranted about that.

Another thing that bugs me? People who are black can be all "I am proud of my heritage! I'm proud to be black! Black is beautiful!", which is all well and good and great and I love that, but if I were to say "You know, I'm proud that I'm white. My heritage is something to be proud of. White is beautiful too!" I would get bopped over the head with white supremacist rants.
Is it bad that I'm worried that I'm going to be bopped over the head with white supremacist rants after I just said that?

4) The first plants polluted the atmosphere with their creepy oxygen gas and killed off all the decent carbon-dioxide breathing creatures. Those photosynthetic bastards! Not that that neccessarily excuses us from everything, but it may provide some comfort. Kind of.

But seriously, I feel your pain. Except the skinny part, 'cause I'm not.
And you know, it's not as bad abroad as you think. I spent a month in Montepillier (France) a few years ago, and people were pretty nice even when I said I was American. Of course, it probably helped that I was there for a program that teaches international students French language and culture. But still. Just avoid cities like Paris ('cause everyone really is a snob there) if you want to travel abroad.
