From the lovely [personal profile] shorelle.

Pick a fictional character from a fandom I know and I'll answer the following questions to the best of my abilities.

1) What is your opinion of this character? If you like, explain why you like him/her. Likewise if you dislike the character.
2) Is he/she important to the general plot?
3) Can you relate to this character at all? Do they grip you emotionally?
4) How much do you like the fandom that this character comes from?
5) Do you ship this character with any other character? Or, are you particularly intrigued by their relationship with any other character(s) (romance-wise or platonic)?
6) Is there anything about the character you would change?
7) If you were in the fandom with this character or knew this character in real life, how do you see yourself interacting with him/her? (Would you get along well? Fall in love with? Dislike? Friendly rivalry? Etc.)
8) Does this character make the cut as one of your all time favorites (if you like) or least favorites?
9) Would you hype up (if you like) or warn about (if you dislike) this character to someone who's new to the fandom?
10) Is this character popular with the fanbase?

Let's see what people come up with!

1) Faile. I have serious mixed feelings about her...sometimes I love her and her sass, and sometimes she bugs the hell out of me. I wish I knew a little more about her motivations, though I did really enjoy the pieces from her point of view after she was captured by the Shaido. It's interesting to see how "strong" female characters hold up under stress. Plus I kind of ship her/Rolan.

2) In which sense? She definitely adds more dimension, and I assume RJ has her there for a reason, but I have no idea what it is yet...maybe never will now. *single tear*

3) Sometimes, but it's not something I can identify. I do get the thing she has about Perrin pushing back though. I wouldn't ever want my boyfriend/significant other to be a pushover. It would frustrate me no end.

4) I'm pretty sure this one is clear, but Wheel of Time is one of my three favorite fandoms, the other two being Black Jewels Trilogy and...Wheel of Time. So...yeah.

5) As mentioned above, Faile/Rolan is cute. I'm sad that he died. Me and my friend have a two person fanclub for this pairing. Other than that...I'm interested with the Faile/Berelain pairing I sort of didn't come up with. The dynamic between them is just...well.

6) I don't think so. If something changed, she wouldn't be Faile.

7) I don't think I would like Faile most of the time. I think I'd be the kind of person who would tell her when I was bothered by something she did, and I'm not sure how well she'd react to that.

8) No, neither way. But mostly because I have so many favorites. I appreciate her as a great character.

9) I'd let whoever it was reach their own conclusion. She seems, for the most part, to be a really polarizing character in the fandom.

10) Nooo. As far as I can tell, she might top the list of most hated Wheel of Time characters.

I love the icon, by the way.

1) Sometimes he bothers me. He can be just so incredibly (in Nynaeve's words) wool-headed it drives me crazy. But on the other hand, he's so intense, dedicated, and just, well - honorable - that it's hard not to respect him. Honestly, that's probably the best way to describe how I feel about him: grudging respect.

2) Yes. Yes he is.

3) No, not really - but I still admire a lot of his - Lan-ness.

4) ...I answered this one above. It's - yes.

5) Lan/Nynaeve is honestly the only one. I like his relationship with Moiraine, though, and wish it were expanded on a little. Something for fanfic writers, I guess.

6) Again, no. If he changed, he wouldn't be Lan.

7) I think he would bother me no end. I'd always be poking and teasing at him, trying to find a weak spot, which would not make for very Happy Lan I imagine. If there is such a thing.

8) No, I'm too ambiguous.

9) I probably wouldn't mention him, actually...

10) Less the character than the Lan/Nynaeve pairing.

Sirius Black. And I'm so doing this, so you better give me a character. >P

1) I like him, but honestly, I have no idea why. He's not that interesting a character. It might be just his doggishness - I'm very much like that myself in some ways. He's one of those characters I'm at a loss to explain why I like.

2) Only in a very peripheral sense, unfortunately. He mostly just serves as another angst factor, seems like to me, which made me just a little mad.

3) Yeah. The rabid need for vengeance and the chafing at not being involved are very much things I can see myself doing, even if they weren't the best choice for me or those around me.

4) I'm not such a fan, actually. It's fun, but I don't like many of the characters or her writing style, and it felt really - gimmicky, I guess. But it was fun to read.

5) Not really, no.

6) I kind of wish he didn't die. That just - was stupid. Also I don't know that I would have made him quite so - emo in the last few books. It felt a little weird.

7) I think I'd like him, but I'd be frustrated by him a lot. We'd fight all the time.

8) No, neither way, though he's up there on attractive male fictional characters.

9) In all honesty? NO ONE is new to this fandom.

10) Oh yes. And the fangirls.

XD Min gets to go first.

1) I really like her. She's three dimensional. The people who say they don't like how she got all girly after meeting Rand obviously just don't know enough girls who melt completely when they like someone. She isn't always putting herself down and she seems fairly confident, and she also isn't 'special' in any way, really, which is nice. She's a normal girl, but she has sass and intelligence and a very big heart. I feel like she actually cares about Rand sometimes more than the other girls.

2) I don't know...again, it depends. I'll have to see in the last book.

3) I do the same thing about liking guys. I'm aware I'm pathetic, but my brain just seems to like to go out the window a lot of the time. Her loyalty also reminds me of me - her friends are very important to her.

4) NO, I HATE IT. WHAT IS THIS MADNESS?

5) Min/Elayne is cute. Min/Rand is adorable. Also, one-sided Min/Fedwin is cute in a really sad sort of way. If Mat/Tuon weren't so OTP I might like Mat/Min too, but. Perrin/Min was cute that one time I tried writing it... Min is cute with many people.

6) I don't think so. At least, not off the top of my head.

7) I think I'd like her, at least. I'd want to be friends.

8) Yeah, I think so. Actually, yes. For sure.

9) I might hype her a little. But not much. I like people to make their own decisions.

10) I can't tell...most people seem ambiguous on this one.

You get my Lucivar icon. XD

1) HELLS YEAH. I think I might babble here a bit. I love Lucivar. He's fascinating to me. First of all he has wings, which makes me happy, but mostly it's his Lucivar-ness that makes him awesome: the quick, nasty, temper; the overprotectiveness, the overbearingness, the being a softie around kids and no one else - he just makes me happy.

2) Yes, mosdef.

3) I can relate with the temper, in the smallest degree. And the protectiveness. But yes, as should be apparent, he does grip me emotionally (whatever that means). I love watching him, which is why RPing him is so much fun, and writing fanfiction.

4) EEEBJT.

5) Elise would like to take this oppurtunity to point out that Lucivar/Daemon is just wrong I only ship Lucivar/Marian. Period. *is a canonwhoor*

6) Nope. I love him just the way he is. My cuddlefuzzy.

7) Highly depends on if I were related to him or not.

8) Oh yes. Right now, even, my favorite.

9) I might. Mostly I'd go anti-Daemon/Lucivar on them. I don't know enough fantasy readers to make it an issue.

10) It would seem that Sues are more popular in this fandom than the canon characters, but of the canon characters, probably more so than Jaenelle, less than Daemon. Poor Jaenelle. :/
